Entech Wins an EPC Contract for a 180 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Entech announces the signing of a contract worth nearly €40 million on behalf of a French electricity producer, covering the supply of a battery energy storage system (BESS) connected to the high-voltage power grid (HTB). This is the largest contract Entech has ever secured as a sole EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contractor.
Record-breaking 90 MW / 180 MWh turnkey EPC contract
Energy storage plays a crucial role in the ongoing integration of renewable energy sources into power grids by ensuring a constant balance between supply and demand.
The contract awarded to Entech involves the construction of a turnkey 90 MW / 180 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for a major electricity producer in metropolitan France. It also includes the construction of the associated high-voltage substation, which will connect the storage facility to the 90-kV power transmission grid managed by RTE.
As the sole contractor, Entech will provide comprehensive, turnkey management of this project, from design through commissioning, including the completion of preliminary studies, the selection of subcontractors, and the supervision of all work. This management approach meets the client’s desire to have a single point of contact for the entire project.
The plant’s operational phase will be accompanied by a 5-year, renewable O&M maintenance contract.
According to Christopher Franquet, CEO of Entech, “This contract is part of our client’s strategy to develop BESS projects and aims to support the continued growth of flexible energy solutions in France. It illustrates Entech’s growing strength and its technical and financial capacity to manage increasingly large-scale projects on its own. Our teams are already fully committed to taking on this new challenge.”
